Air Passenger Rights

European regulation EU261/04 protects passengers against travel disruption and also provides an incentive for the airlines to maintain a more punctual schedule. Regulation (EC) No 261/2004 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 11 February 2004 establishes rules on compensation and assistance to passengers in the event of denied boarding and of cancellation or long delay of flights.

For airline delays, you are entitled to compensation if your flight arrived at its destination 3 hours late (or more), plus other rights such as food and hotel.

Airline cancellation

For airline cancellations, your are eligible for financial compensation if it has been informed 14 days or less prior to departure, plus other rights such as accomodation, food and rerouting.

Misconnection

For connected flights, compensation is due also for any delay in a flight that cause you to miss the next one, provided that you arrive more than 3 hours late after rerouting and both flights belong to the same booking.

Boarding Denial

In case of boarding denial due to overbooking, you're entitled to compensation plus the replacement flight, plus food and hotel until you reach your destination.
